Carlow County Council
My name is Orla Donohoe. I am standing in the local elections for the Irish Freedom Party in Carlow town.
I am the mother of 2 children aged 12 and 22. I believe in a secure and safe future for my children and all the children of Ireland. I am actively involved in animal welfare which I absolutely love. I am on the Parents Association at my daughters school. I also volunteered in St Clare’s Hospitality Kitchen as I believe helping out in your local community is very important.
I am not a politician but i believe we have to now stand up for what is right and to the injustices that have ingrained our beautiful country.
If elected to Carlow County Council, my priorities are:
  1. Housing – the government “Housing for All” policy is still failing our Irish people who are most in need.
  2. Special Needs Services – highlighting why more funding has not been allocated to reduce waiting times for assessments including speech therapy, physio, occupational therapy, psychology and respite and to improve school placement for children with special needs.
  3. Healthcare – why have we no primary care in Carlow? Why are there such financial barriers that prevent new GP practices establishment? Could the government provide a grant to alleviate some of these financial constraints thereby increasing the number of GP practices available?
  4. Garda – Increasing support and resources for local gardaí in order to help them deal with the increase in crime and anti social behaviour.
  5. Public Services – why are we scalling back on important services like a Lollipop person, support services for mental health issues, critical intervention and addiction services?
  6. Tourism – how do we envisage the viability of Carlow when we have only 3 main hotels so how many tourists beds are available? What is the main attraction to bring people to Carlow? Can we offer more assistance to the Tidy Towns committee?
  7. I fully support the introduction of a dedicated Garda Animal Welfare Unit
At national level Orla supports the party’s efforts on combating the climate alarmism that tries to paint Farmers as the bad guys and highlighting the issues around illegal migration into the country which is having a serious impact on our ability as a country to provide adequate housing and health services to our own people.
