Galway County Council

My name is Aidan Corrigan. I am a hospitality professional with over 20 years experience in the industry. Originally from Dublin, I now reside in Athenry County Galway with my wife and three children. I am a fluent Irish speaker and former member of the reserve defence forces.

I am running for the county council in the Athenry- Oranmore Local Electoral Area. I am doing this to stand up for the future of our families and our community. In recent years it has become very apparent that our elected officials have no consideration for Ireland and her people.

If elected to Galway county council, I pledge to:

  • I will refuse to deal with IPAS (International Protection Accomodation Service) if they move to create further refugee/ asylum centres in our area.
  • Last year the Housing Minister Darragh O’ Brien sent out an order to elected councillors to disregard “local connection” to an area when deciding who receives social housing from local authorities. I will ensure that we house the Irish first.
  • I will reduce rates on local businesses in the area. We cannot ensure the economic viability of the area if we continue to tax local businesses out of existence.
  • Rural crime is on the rise in Ireland. I will work with local Gardaí in order to ensure that people in our locality feel more safe.
  • I want to promote tourism in our area. The only way to do this is to ensure the viability of our Hotels and local businesses. If we do this we will start to see the economic benefit to our area.
